Dallas, TX (July 1, 2011) — Ro2 Art is proud to present SYNCLINES – work by Cabe
Booth, Robb Conover, and Kevin Obregon. The opening reception will take place
Saturday, July 23 from 7 to 10pm, and will run through August 13, 2011. The exhibition
will take place at Ro2 Art's Downtown space, located at 110 N. Akard Street, between
Main and Elm, on the ground floor of the historic Kirby Building
ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Cabe Booth is a Dallas based artist specializing in oil, acrylic, graphite and water media. Booth
is interested in how to approach and create the constructed and distressed surfaces he uses as a
mixed media sculptural canvas for his paintings. Subject matter includes portraiture, aviation
history and concepts of man's imitation of nature. Cabe is most well known for his band portraits,
which he started in 1998 at legendary Deep Ellum venue, Curtain Club.
Robb Conover is a Pop artist, working with bold colors and a unique brushstroke to create
memorable works of art, often playing homage to American pop icons, having participated in a
student internship with Roy Lichtenstein and working alongside Keith Haring, while attending
Pratt Institute in New York. About his work, Conover says, “There's a method to the madness, a
calculated plan to arrange expression and soul into all forms that end up on my canvas. I don't
believe in accidental meetings, especially in art.”
Fifth-generation Texan, Kevin Obregon is a Dallas-based site-specific sculptor, painter, writer,
muralist, percussionist and artist’s advocate. About his drawings, Obregon muses, “my drawings
are complex re-arrangements of (sheet) music, as it cycles from my damaged ears into the
auditory cortex of the brain and manifesting, moment by moment, on the visual plane. In
deference to my hearing loss, I find myself attracted to the tactile feel of rhythm, melody and
pattern - especially low frequencies, because though I may be unable to “hear” them, my brand of
hearing has given me the ability to read body language acutely well. The quick lines are short,
repetitive bursts and the long lines can either be melody or the space between them their notes.”
